How do you say goodbye?
“Keep well”, “Au revoir”, “Viszlát”, See you …? But how would you say goodbye when you are incurably ill? Because, what is a good end life for you? Tell EVA bxl during the pop-up citizen survey at the Muntpunt.
Under the guidance of Fabruka, the new social initiatives factory of Brussels, EVA bxl explores with partners and Brussels residents the start-up of a new service with a focus on inclusive action in palliative care.
And the Brusseler today is hyper-diverse. That’s why we want to know how you, Brusseler, view death and end-of-life care today. Come talk about it during our pop-up citizen survey! Who do you want support from, how do you look at care, how do you want to say goodbye, where do you want to live, what are your last wishes, do you want to be buried or cremated, which rituals are important to you, how do you want to be remembered after death, …?
The range of responses helps us to co-creatively shape the new service, which is to create a space in neighborhoods where residents can walk in to talk with bridge figures about illness, care, death and loss. Bridge figures who themselves breathe in and out the diversity of the neighborhood and bring together the community around end-of-life. They support people from the neighborhood who are terminally ill by, among other things, unraveling the request for help and providing clear feedback between caregiver and family? What else can they do? That’s what we’d like to hear from you.
We do this not by chance at Muntpunt. Browse through the book collection on the topic of end of life with wonderful novels about death, such as “The End of Life Reading Club” by Will Schwalbe, as non-fiction such as “The End of Life in Your Own Control” by Wim Distelmans on euthanasia and palliative care.
