Together for a Diploma, 3 years of impact. We’re celebrating at Muntpunt

From support model to a movement for right to learn

Imagine this: you are an adult, you have a job, maybe a family, and you have college dreams again. In the past, however, you didn’t get the same educational opportunities. Still, you decide to go for that degree. That takes courage. And then there are the barriers: language, time, uncertainty, insufficient information about the studies. For many people, that’s where it stops.

But what if someone stands next to you who says: you don’t have to do this alone? Together for a Diploma starts from exactly that idea. It is more than an initiative. It is a movement for the right to learn for adults who experience barriers in higher education. Through a mentor, a peer network and so much more, they are guided toward a diploma that truly matches their talents and professional dreams. Because if we want to build a society of solidarity, we need all talents.

3 years ago, the first duos of students and mentors started. After a research and test phase, and thanks to Impulse subsidies from the Flemish Community – Brussels Affairs, Samen voor een Diploma was able to develop the support model with five building blocks over the past 3 years into a movement for the right to learn.

During this afternoon, we look back on the past period, enjoy sharing where we are today in the development of the initiative, and look forward to the future together. We share stories, and listen to each other.

This afternoon is also a thank you. To everyone who has thought, tested, participated, as a student, mentor/volunteer, partner organization, supporter,…
