As part of the ERDF project Fabruka, EVA bxl is seeking an independent project coach (x/v/m) for the Amori initiative (50% for 6 months)

As a social lab, EVA bxl has been developing initiatives based on the needs of Brussels residents for 30 years. EVA bxl works collaboratively with these residents. Together, we seek solutions that have not yet been conceived within existing systems. Through action-oriented work, we demonstrate that structural change is indeed possible.

Fabruka aims to identify unaddressed social challenges faced by Brussels residents in collaboration with grassroots organizations and citizen collectives. Together, we devise concrete solutions and create widely supported projects that make a real difference. Our goal: to transform an impactful solution into a social enterprise—in the form of a cooperative or a nonprofit organization.

Amori is a multi-stakeholder initiative led by EVA bxl and Fabruka and developed by numerous partners. It aims to make palliative care more accessible and inclusive in superdiverse Brussels neighborhoods by developing a diversity-sensitive, low-barrier care network of volunteer bridge figures from the neighborhood. The project focuses on residents with a terminal illness and their loved ones who struggle to access existing palliative care. It also supports healthcare professionals in this context. The model is being tested and scaled up in other neighborhoods in Brussels as an innovative care cooperative.

 

To ensure the smooth running of Amori’s testing phase, Fabruka, EVA bxl, and the partner collective are looking for an independent project coach.

To this end, we’re heading to the Peterbos neighborhood in Anderlecht, where—in collaboration with the new Peterbos Neighborhood Health Center—we’re exploring and testing the “bridge figure” model: what is the profile of a bridge figure, what will their responsibilities be, and (where) can they be found in the neighborhood. In this phase, we’re also building the local network and exploring the feasibility of a cooperative model, in addition to drafting a business plan and strategy.

 

What do you do?

As a project coach (x/v/m), you will work with Amori’s internal and external working group to further develop and embed the initiative in the Peterbos neighborhood, in line with the mission and vision of EVA bxl and Fabruka.

  • You will take the lead in designing, implementing, and evaluating the testing phase of the bridge figure profile
  • You will work in co-creation with partners and end users of the initiative.
  • You will build strong networks with local partner organizations in the neighborhood and within the health and social services sector.
  • You will work with the staff at the Peterbos Community Health Center and a social work intern on a high-quality pilot phase.
  • You will prepare the internal and external working groups.
  • In collaboration with Fabruka, you will prepare for the structuring phase: drafting a business plan and a financial plan, and researching the legal structure of a cooperative.
  • You will coordinate and draft new grant applications, with the help of Crédal (a partner in Fabruka).

  • You are entrepreneurial and you love social innovation. You have an eye for the needs we face as a society.
  • You have experience in project development and process-oriented work.
  • You enjoy working independently and can act as a team player within collaborative partnerships.
  • You have a special interest in intersectionality, inclusion, bottom-up work, informal networks and a multitude of life experiences.
  • You are a connecting listener who can translate stories of groups into needs.
  • You are bilingual/multilingual and have an excellent command of Dutch both written and verbal as you will be responsible for report writing in this position.

How do we see it?

  • As a freelancer, you will be commissioned by the Amori and Fabruka collective. Fabruka provides support with project management methodology, drafting the business and financial plans, and seeking funding.
  • In practice, you’ll be part of the EVA bxl team. This team consists of 9 colleagues and 20 volunteers. We provide an onboarding program and internal training to help you get started with the initiative’s vision, EVA bxl’s human-centered design approach, the previous phase of development, and the goals of the new organization.
  • You will enter into a contractual partnership with EVA bxl on behalf of Fabruka.
  • Start date, if possible, September 28.
  • 50% contract—19 hours per week, for a period of 6 months (+ Oct–Feb)
  • This job involves sporadic evening and weekend work.
  • Hybrid work form possible.

 

Selection Process:

A public contract will be issued for this job as part of the ERDF grant.
