The Baobab

We call a cat a cat: education needs a dynamic approach tailored to Brussels children with diverse backgrounds and home situations. But Brussels residents today still find too little way to the training – and thus the profession – of teacher.

Many of them have abilities and enthusiasm in abundance, but bump into various thresholds within the regular track. Through the De Baobab project, they get the chance to work as working students – together with an experienced kindergarten teacher as mentor – right away. They receive four years of intensive coaching after which they receive a full diploma in kindergarten education.

The De Baobab project strengthens the relationship between school, children, parents and neighborhood by structurally integrating role models into Dutch-speaking Brussels preschool education.
